Anchor Bistro and Bar is Twin Falls’ newest fun spot offering an eclectic menu of fusion cuisine, excellent wine selection and full service bar featuring nightly drink specials.
The Anchor is owned and operated by Bob and Janell Maloney and Tim and Shawna Obenchain, long time Twin Falls residents and business owners. The Maloney’s and Obenchain’s launched the Anchor to capture memories of some of the great restaurants they have visited throughout the world. Mark Makin, former owner and chef of The Aroma restaurant in Twin Falls, serves as Executive Chef and General Manager and brings his special culinary skills to life with some truly unique and delicious menu offerings.
The Anchor is uses the shell of the former Skippers building on Blue Lakes Avenue, but long-time Skippers patrons will not recognize the building as their former “fish ‘n chips” hangout. The Anchor offers a gloriously refurbished look featuring dark hardwoods, custom woodwork, leather seating and a warm setting that invites you to relax with friends and family. The Anchor features 8 flat screen TVs situated throughout the restaurant and on the patio for special events allowing you to catch the latest sporting event.
The Anchor features a full wine list with some of the best wines available in Twin Falls. Nightly bar specials and “surprises” are offered every night of the week.
The Maloney’s and Obenchain’s are pleased and excited to bring the Anchor to Twin Falls. We look forward to seeing you soon at the Anchor Bistro and Bar.
In November of 1984 Mark leased a store front on a then prominent corner in downtown Twin Falls and opened his first restaurant called the A’roma Italian Cuisine. The A’roma grew over the next 18 years into on of the most popular and innovative restaurants in Southern Idaho. Next in 1994 he opened the A’roma Express on the north end of town to provide a variation of his downtown recipes to the growing Poleline Road business population explosion. In 1996 he sold the Express and returned his talents to his Downtown location. In 2002 Mark entered partnership with his friend and owner of a very popular Southwest restaurant and started his next venture called Senor Caesar’s. This was a blend of Italian and Southwest styles of cuisine. In 2007 they sold and Mark thought he had retired from the Restaurant world. Then in the spring of 2009 Tim Obnenchain and Bob Maloney offered a unique opportunity to Mark. To remodel an existing property in a busy location into the new Anchor Bistro and Bar. The rest of the story is yet to come so please come see us and be part of this story.
